01Shipping Basics
General Freight Questions

How international shipping works.

Start here if you are not yet sure which freight mode, shipment structure or service you need.

What international freight services do you provide?

We can evaluate road freight, LTL, FTL, air freight, express air freight, sea freight, LCL, FCL and rail-linked or multimodal structures according to the cargo, route and current carrier conditions.

Can you ship commercial cargo from Turkey worldwide?

Yes. From Turkey, suitable commercial cargo can be evaluated for worldwide air and sea freight, as well as road freight to supported regional and European corridors. Rail-linked or multimodal options can also be evaluated where suitable corridors exist.

How do I know which freight method is best?

The best method depends on origin, destination, cargo type, dimensions, gross weight, total CBM, urgency, special requirements and current carrier capacity. If you are unsure, use “Help Me Choose” on the Get a Quote page.

What is door-to-door freight?

Door-to-door freight generally means organizing transport from the pickup location to the final delivery location, subject to the route, customs structure, carrier capabilities and local access conditions.

Can you ship a single pallet?

A single commercial pallet can often be evaluated using LTL road freight, LCL sea freight or air freight depending on route, dimensions, weight and urgency.

Can you ship a full truck or full container?

Yes. FTL can be evaluated for dedicated road capacity, while FCL can be evaluated for full-container sea freight.

02Freight Costs
Pricing Questions

What affects international shipping cost?

There is no universal freight rate. Pricing depends on the actual shipment and current transport conditions.

How much does shipping from Turkey cost?

Cost depends on the exact route, cargo description, number of packages, dimensions, gross weight, CBM, freight mode, special handling, customs structure and current carrier capacity. A live quote should be based on the actual shipment details.

What information affects a freight quote?

The main inputs are pickup and destination, cargo type, package count, dimensions, gross weight, total CBM, stackability, preferred mode, cargo-ready date and any battery, DG, temperature, fragile or oversized requirements.

Is air freight always more expensive than sea freight?

No. Air can be more expensive in many cases, especially for large-volume cargo, but total cost depends on chargeable weight, handling, route, shipment size and destination costs. The actual shipment should be compared.

Is sea freight always the cheapest option?

No. Sea freight can be cost-efficient for larger volumes, but LCL handling, inland transport, terminal charges and route conditions can change the total logistics cost.

Is LTL always cheaper than FTL?

Not automatically. LTL is often practical for smaller loads, while FTL can become more suitable for larger, high-volume, sensitive or non-stackable shipments. The real comparison depends on the shipment and route.

Is LCL always cheaper than FCL?

No. LCL can suit smaller sea shipments, but as volume and handling requirements increase, FCL can become more practical. There is no universal CBM threshold that applies to every route.

03Transit & Timing
Transit Questions

Why freight timing must be route-specific.

Transport time is affected by more than the movement between origin and destination.

How long does international shipping take?

There is no single transit time for international freight. Timing depends on the selected mode, exact route, booking, carrier schedule, consolidation, borders, ports or airports, customs and current operating conditions.

What is the difference between transit time and total door-to-door time?

Transit time usually refers to the main transport leg, while total door-to-door time can also include pickup, consolidation, terminal handling, customs procedures, transfers and final delivery.

Is air freight always faster?

Air is commonly selected when time sensitivity is a major priority, but exact timing still depends on airline booking, cargo acceptance, schedule, connections, handling, customs and final delivery.

Can road freight be delayed at borders?

Yes. Border traffic, customs procedures, permits, driver requirements, inspections and corridor conditions can affect road timing.

Can sea freight be delayed?

Yes. Sailing schedules, cut-off times, port congestion, transshipment, terminal operations, customs and weather-related operating conditions can affect sea freight timing.

Do you guarantee fixed transit times?

No fixed transit time should be assumed unless specifically confirmed for the actual shipment by the relevant carrier structure. Freight timing should be treated as route- and shipment-specific.

04Road Freight
Truck Freight

LTL, FTL and international road freight questions.

Road freight is especially important for Turkey’s regional, European, Caucasus and selected Middle Eastern trade corridors.

What is LTL freight?

LTL uses shared truck capacity for a shipment that does not require a full vehicle. Cargo can be consolidated with compatible freight moving on the same or related route.

What is FTL freight?

FTL uses dedicated truck capacity for one shipment or shipping requirement. It can suit larger loads, higher-volume freight or cargo that benefits from dedicated vehicle space.

How do I choose between LTL and FTL?

Consider total volume, gross weight, pallet count, stackability, sensitivity, route, urgency and current vehicle capacity. There is no universal pallet threshold for every shipment.

Can road freight be door-to-door?

Yes, road freight can often support direct commercial pickup and delivery where road access, customs structure and route conditions permit.

Do you provide road freight from Turkey to Europe?

Yes. Suitable commercial road freight from Turkey to European destinations can be evaluated using LTL, FTL and other appropriate structures.

Can oversized cargo move by road?

Yes, where suitable trailers, route clearances, permits, axle limits and border conditions support the movement. Heavy or oversized shipments should be reviewed individually.

05Air Freight
Air Cargo

Air freight and express air questions.

Air freight can be evaluated for suitable urgent, compact, higher-value and international commercial shipments.

Can you ship air cargo from Turkey worldwide?

Yes. Eligible commercial cargo can be evaluated for air freight from locations across Turkey to worldwide destinations, subject to airline routing and acceptance.

What is chargeable weight?

Air freight can be charged using actual weight or volumetric / dimensional weight according to the applicable airline or carrier rule. The higher applicable chargeable basis may affect pricing.

Do package dimensions matter for air freight?

Yes. Dimensions affect volumetric weight and whether the cargo physically fits the available aircraft and handling equipment.

What is express air freight?

Express air is an urgent air-freight structure for suitable cargo. Availability depends on airline routing, capacity, dimensions, product acceptance and shipment readiness.

Can spare parts move by express air?

Yes. Suitable urgent spare parts and technical components can be evaluated for express air within airline size, weight and product restrictions.

Can dangerous goods move by air?

Some dangerous goods can be accepted by air under strict classification, packaging, quantity, documentation and airline rules. Exact cargo details must be reviewed before booking.

06Sea Freight
Ocean Freight

LCL, FCL and container shipping questions.

Sea freight from suitable Turkish ports can support commercial cargo to worldwide destinations.

What is LCL shipping?

LCL means a shipment uses part of a container together with compatible cargo from other shippers. It is commonly considered for smaller sea-freight volumes.

What is FCL shipping?

FCL means a full container is used for one shipper’s cargo requirement. It can suit larger or dedicated container loads.

How do I choose between LCL and FCL?

Compare total CBM, gross weight, stackability, cargo sensitivity, route, ports, handling requirements and current pricing. There is no single universal CBM rule.

From which Turkish ports can sea freight be arranged?

Sea-freight options can be evaluated from Istanbul, Mersin, Izmir and other suitable Turkish ports depending on the cargo, carrier and destination.

Can oversized machinery move by sea?

Yes. Depending on dimensions and weight, flat-rack, open-top, breakbulk or project-cargo structures may be evaluated where the carrier and port support them.

Can temperature-sensitive cargo move by sea?

Suitable reefer-container options can be evaluated where equipment, route and carrier conditions support the product requirements. A blanket cold-chain guarantee should not be assumed.

07Documents
Documents & Customs

Commercial shipping documentation questions.

Documentation requirements vary by product, origin, destination and freight mode.

What documents are commonly needed for international shipping?

Common documents include a commercial invoice, packing list and the relevant transport document. Additional origin, customs, product, DG, health, technical or import documents may be required depending on the shipment.

What should a commercial invoice include?

It should accurately identify the seller and buyer, product description, quantity, values and other transaction information required for the shipment. Exact customs requirements should be confirmed for the route.

What should a packing list include?

A packing list commonly includes package count, packaging type, package dimensions, net/gross weights and cargo breakdown corresponding to the actual shipment.

What is a Certificate of Origin?

It is a document used to identify the origin of goods where required by the destination, customer, customs process or applicable trade arrangement.

Do dangerous goods require extra documents?

Often yes. Depending on the product and mode, SDS, dangerous-goods declarations, battery information, UN classification or other documentation may be required.

Are document requirements the same in every country?

No. Requirements vary by product, origin, destination, customs regime and transport method. Documents should be checked for the actual shipment.

08Special Cargo
Regulated & Complex Cargo

Batteries, dangerous goods, temperature-sensitive and oversized cargo.

Special cargo should be declared accurately before carrier evaluation.

Can lithium batteries be shipped internationally?

Some lithium battery shipments can be evaluated, but battery chemistry, configuration, UN status, watt-hour rating where applicable, state of charge where applicable, packaging, condition and carrier acceptance must be reviewed.
